A highlight of any trip to Vietnam, Hoi An is an ancient charming town lying on estuary of Thu Bon river in Quang Nam province. It is known as Faifo to Western traders from the 16th to 17th century; it was also the one of Southeast Asia’s major international port and very familiar with the merchants from Japan, Indonesia, China, Portugal, etc. The archaeological sites, relics and architecture remains have proved that Hoi An was actually the convergence and interference of various cultures: Cham, Vietnam, Japan and China in which almost influenced by Vietnamese and Chinese culture.

Hoi An is typical for the tropical climate of Vietnam with warm around the year of 29 Degree Celsius on average. It has two main seasons: rainy and dry seasons. The rainy season lasts from September to January, with October and November being the rainiest months.
Late January to April/ May with comfortable temperature and low rainfall is the recommended time to visit Hoi An. However, from May to August is still a good time for swimming, diving and snorkeling when the sea is calmer and more beautiful than ever.

The easiest way to get to Hoi An is to take flights of Vietnam Airlines from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Nha Trang and some other provinces to Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang and then take an airport transfer as taxi, bus or private car from the airport to Hoi An. It takes about 30 minutes to Hoi An.

On this evening, all kinds of vehicles are lifted off town and all the people, candles are lit in lanterns and incense is burned in all the shop fronts. Both Hoianians and visitors comfortably walk and enjoy themselves in a new world, the world of quietness, peace, poetry and beauty. On this night, locals dressing in traditional costumes and walk along the streets of town. There are artistic performances in the streets or on the riverside.
